About The Emergency Press

The Emergency Press is a non-profit small press incorporated in New York City. Run by the Emergency Collective, Emergency Press publishes explorative books of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and emergent forms that fall outside traditional categories.

Every year, the press hosts an international contest for book-length creative examinations (in English) of a single topic chosen by the author. A voluntary group of Collective members judges, then selects a winning manuscript for publication. The author of the winning manuscript automatically becomes a Collective member.

Emergency Press also publishes a line of books written and/or edited by current Collective members. Our books are available by special order through your local, independent bookshop, through major online booksellers, as well as direct from Emergency Press. For a listing of available titles, please visit the Emergency Press Catalogue page.
